We celebrate the life and legacy of one of Huber’s Orchard & Winery’s iconic founders, Linda (Zurschmeide) Huber. On Monday, September 20th, Linda passed away peacefully at her home in Starlight, Indiana with her family by her side. Linda grew up on a peach farm in Jeffersonville, Indiana, learning at a young age the value of hard work and life on a farm. Linda married Carl Huber Sr., a 5th Generation & Co-owner of Huber’s Orchard & Winery, in November of 1962. Linda and Carl Huber Sr., along with Carl’s brother and his wife, Gerald and Mary Jeanne Huber, worked diligently for over 30 years growing what has become one of Indiana’s most historic family businesses. Linda helped open the fields in the 1970’s for Huber’s U-pick operations and managed the Farm Market with her sister-in-law, Mary Jeanne Huber. She was also known for her famous cooking, notably her homemade strawberry shortcakes, peach cobblers, and apple pizza pies. This business, now in its seventh generation, still holds true to the principles held so dearly to Linda’s heart. We celebrate that Linda lived to see the impact of what she helped create with her family and hard work, but we are also deeply saddened by the loss of her presence and joy on the farm.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of Linda.
