Open Year Round

The Farm Market is the place to stock up on seasonal fruits & vegetables, pantry staples like apple butter and strawberry preserves, and bakery fresh treats.
Our favorites? Jalapeño cheese bread, muffin loaves, and fruit breads. Make sure you check out the Farm made fudge and cookies at the Snack Bar, and don’t miss grabbing a gallon of apple cider, made on the Farm from our own apples.

Sustainability

Huber’s has been committed to growing healthy, flavorful fruits and vegetables while using the best farming practices for generations. To accomplish this we practice a method of farming called SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE. Over the last two decades a growing movement in the United States has focused on promoting environmentally sound farming practices while providing quality farm products with a conscious effort on helping single family farms to survive among large corporate farms. Individual farmers strive to reach these three main goals: environmental health, economic profitability, and social and economic equity. Sustainable agriculture rests on the principle that we must meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations.

Our sustainable agriculture goal at Huber’s Orchard & Winery is:

Maintain a stable and prosperous farm for our family, while promoting an environmentally sound stewardship of the land resulting in an improved quality of life for our surrounding community and customers.

To reach this goal we employ the following concepts of sustainable agriculture:

Protecting and improving soil quality by crop rotation, reduced tillage and no till to help prevent the loss of soil due to wind and water erosion.

Used to promote weed suppression, prevent soil erosion, and improve soil nutrients and quality by growing plants such as rye after harvesting a vegetable crop.

Growing a greater variety of crops along with trees and shrubs can reduce risks form extremes in weather, market conditions or pests. Diversity will contribute to soil conservation, wildlife habitat and an increased population of beneficial insects.

Using compost, foliar spraying, and mineral replenishment to soil.

Providing fresh produce picked daily for sale in our farm market removes the need for preservatives.

Manufacturing other products with our home grown fruits, such as wines, apple butter, cider, ice cream, etc. Reduces waste and adds value to our farm.

Using the least toxic chemicals, generally at an early stage in the plant’s growth before it has developed edible parts and when it is most vulnerable to destruction by harmful pests. Many of our crops never require spraying, therefore we use chemicals sparingly and only when necessary to save crops from harmful disease or pests.
