Dark, brooding aromas of smoke, roasted fig, toasted oak and plum sauce combine with substantial, but fine grained, tannins that allow the creme de cassis and vanilla flavors to slowly unfold across the palate. As this mass of alcohol and tannins opens, the wine echoes the roasted fig and plum sauce reduction, still warming over an oak ember fire. The tannins pull down the curtain on this intense, young wine, foreshadowing many years of evolution to come.
